Im Zeichen der C19 Krise werden ungewohnte Aufgaben der Selbstsorge und sozialer Verantwortung an uns heran getragen. Die Fragen nach einer politischen, gesellschaftlichen, ökonomischen Zukunft der Welt und damit an den globalen Kapitalismus in seiner neoliberalen Verfasstheit bleiben die Gleichen.
Aber sie werden unter Bedingungen von sich vielfältig verschärfenden sozialen Konflikten und von sich rasant transformierenden politischen und ökonomischen Dynamiken neu gestellt. In den kommenden Wochen werden wir in politiken herausgefordert sein, in den besten Traditionen der Aufklärung, unsere neue Aktualität zu verstehen um das Mantra der Alternativlosigkeiten zu unterlaufen und den Versuchen einer schnell schnell weiter-so Bewältigung zu widerstehen. Die Unterbrechung gibt uns die Chance dafür, läßt auf Veränderung hoffen. In jedem Fall wird einiges neu auszuhandeln sein.
Politik richtet sich nicht nur immer in der Spannung zwischen dem Universellen und Singularitäten ein, sondern wird von dieser auch permanent zerrissen und zerfällt in Politiken.

In the last few month since the corona crisis hit the world Politiken could not ignore the obvious
power of the events and transport the meeting online. The very first meeting on the “topic” under the fresh impressions of a global lock-down was minted by an openness and curiosity of minds. in the following sessions the discussions became a bit exhausting because of the complexity of the situation itself, rendering everybody more or less immobile, but also because of the social mess following the clarity of the beginning of the Pandemic. Even in a limited context like Berlin or Germany, the measures taken against the virus hit people very different, depending on their social status and means.
Conspiracy theories flourish perfectly in a situation like that. Although we think we are informant on a global scale because of the internet, it is also very clear that the current events play out very different in various countries and continents. Its seems that the virus functions like an social and structural amplifier, intensifying the already existing sociopolitical realities on the ground but also opens new opportunities to question, analyze or stabilize the existing orders, depending on the countries and the political structures.
In Brazil we find a very explosive mix between the current extreme right government and how the spreading virus distresses the already very violent and fragile postcolonial heritage forming the country. The performance artist and theoretician Flavia Meireles, who lived last year few month Berlin but is based in Rio de Janeiro, will join our next online meeting from Rio and we hope to get some insight from her about the situation in Brazil.
Flavia Meireles is a full-professor at CEFET-RJ (Brazil) and a Ph.D. Candidate in the Communication and Culture Department of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Associate Researcher of QDFCT (Queer Studies, Decolonial Feminist and Cultural Transformations) at Justus-Liebeg Universität Giessen. Her main interests are grassroots social movements, cultural and artistic contexts; politics of the body, gender, racialization, sexualities, and decolonial feminists approaches.
