2020 ist das Jahr, in dem ihr – obwohl ihr es ja urspünglich gar nicht so viel benutzen wolltet – das Internet kaputtgemacht habt: mit Live Streaming auf Social Media, Onlinefilmfestivals und Onlineausstellungen, mit Netflix, Zoom und tausend Apps, die niemand von euch wirklich versteht.
Und wir verstehen sie natürlich auch nicht. Wir wollen nur nochmal kurz an die Geschichte des Radios erinnern, Peer-to-Peer-Medium par excellence und avant la lettre, bis der Traum des Staats – nämlich synchron zu sein – in Erfüllung gegangen ist und das Radio zum Empfänger wurde.
Wäre schade, wenn der Traum des Indiviuums mittlerweile auch nur noch “in real time” wäre und keine anderen Räume mehr besetzt, und mit dem Internet etwas Ähnliches passieren würde.

2020 is the year you broke the internet. The virus made you do it: get into online teaching and online festivals and live streaming on social media, fall in love with Netflix, make peace with Zoom, and install a thousand apps on your phone that you don’t really understand.
Of course, we don’t understand most of them either. We just wanted to remind you, and ourselves, of what happened to radio, peer-to-peer medium par excellence and avant la lettre, until the dream of the state – to be in sync – fulfilled itself and turned radio into a receiver.
It would be unfortunate if the dream of the in/dividual today was nothing more than “in real time” and occupied no other spaces anymore, and we ended up giving up on the internet as well.
