Eva Busch – Übers Erbe sprechen wir dann

In diesem Workshop  Eva Busch dazu ein, sich dem Thema Erbschaft aus persönlicher, machtkritischer Perspektive zu nähern.

Eva Busch ist freie Kuratorin und Kulturarbeiterin aus Bochum. Sie interessiert sich in ihren Projekten für machtkritische Erinnerungsarbeit, Differenz und Möglichkeiten des Gemeinsamen. Neben temporären Zusammenarbeiten mit Institutionen wie der Akademie der Künste der Welt in Köln oder der Kunstsammlung NRW, ist sie mit ihrer Praxis vor allem im atelier automatique (Bochum) verortet. Hier realisierte sie in den vergangenen Jahren in verschiedenen Konstellationen zahlreiche Projekte, darunter Begegnungsräume, Archivausstellungen, Vortragsreihen, Schaufensterausstellungen und Nachbarschaftsgespräche. Darüber hinaus ist sie als Teil des Vorstands in die alltägliche Organisation eingebunden.

Was wir (nicht) erben ist ein Ausdruck unseres Eingebunden-Seins in soziale, familiäre Strukturen. Erbschaft, so wie sie heute gesetzlich geregelt wird, ist einer der wichtigsten Faktoren für die Aufrechterhaltung sozialer Ungleichheit in Deutschland. Gleichzeitig scheint das Thema schier nicht besprechbar zu sein – eine emotional aufgeladene, vermeintliche Privatsache, ein Tabuthema, im besten Fall ein Konfliktfeld. An der Sprachlosigkeit bröckeln Freund*innenschaften, Familien und Hausprojekte.
In diesem Workshop lädt Eva Busch dazu ein, sich dem Thema Erbschaft aus persönlicher, machtkritischer Perspektive zu nähern. Anliegen ist es, unser eigenes Verhältnis dazu zu reflektieren und in eine gemeinsame Aushandlung über Visionen im Umgang mit Erbschaft zu kommen, sowohl in Richtung einer Besprechbarkeit von Unterschieden, als auch hin zu Perspektiven auf Formen der Umverteilung. Niemand muss vor der Gruppe ungewollt Details über Familie oder Erbschaftsverhältnisse offenlegen, aber ein Interesse, sich in der Gruppe mit der eigenen Situation und der der Anderen auseinanderzusetzen, sollte mitgebracht werden. Alle sind eingeladen, ein geerbtes Objekt mitzubringen, um es den anderen vorzustellen.

In this workshop, Eva Busch invites us to approach the subject of inheritance/heritage from a personal, power-critical perspective.

Eva Busch is a freelance curator and cultural worker from Bochum. She is interested in a power-critical approach to practices and politics of remembering, difference, and the possibilities of the collective. In addition to temporary collaborations with institutions such as the Akademie der Künste der Welt (Köln) or the Kunstsammlung NRW, her practice is primarily located at atelier automatique (Bochum). Here she has realized numerous projects in various constellations over the past years: spaces for encounter, archive exhibitions, lecture series, window exhibitions, and neighborhood talks. Next to that she is involved in the day-to-day organization as part of the board of directors.

What we (don’t) inherit is an expression of our being embedded in social, familial structures. Inheritance, as it is regulated by law today, is one of the most important factors in maintaining social inequality in Germany. At the same time, the topic seems almost undiscussable – an emotionally charged, supposedly private matter, a taboo subject, at best a field of conflict. Friendships, families and house projects fall apart because of the inability to address the issue. In this workshop, Eva Busch invites us to approach the subject of inheritance/heritage from a personal, power-critical perspective. The aim is to reflect on our own relationship to this topic and to enter a process of collective negotiation about visions for dealing with inheritance. Both towards a discussion of differences as well as towards perspectives on forms of redistribution. No one will have to unwillingly reveal details about family or inheritance in front of the group. However, an interest in engaging with one’s own situation and that of others in the group will be helpful. Everyone is invited to bring an inherited object to present to the others.
This workshop is designed for max. six participants and will be facilitated in German language.
