This is an invitation to gather.
We would like to gather around words.
We would like to gather around books and the people who wrote them.
We would like to read together and let language resonate.
We would like to see what happens when we gather to read, think and talk.

We are not experts in what we want to share, we bring the texts that move us. We are excited to see what conversation these texts open up in relation to the practice of being human, and of being human amongst other humans and nonhumans.

Each session will include a reading and a lightly facilitated conversation, we will be tuned to who’s there and what they bring with them.
This brief study group is a part of the project “Assembly Instructions” that will be presented at Tanzfabrik in the first week of November, supported by the Berliner Sennat

On the menu:

Tue. 31.8
18:00-21:00
reading: Audre Lorde: The Uses Of The Erotic (1978)
watching: Audre Lorde, The Berlin Years / a film by Dagmar Schulz (2012)
“Recognizing the power of the erotic within our lives can give us the energy to pursue genuine change within our world, rather than merely settling for a shift of characters in the same weary drama. For not only do we touch our most profoundly creative source, but we do that which is female and self-affirming in the face of a racist, patriarchal, and anti-erotic society.”

Fri. 3.9
18:00-21:00
reading: Refusing Completeness, a conversation between Fred Moten, Stefano Harney and Stevphen Shukaitis in relation to their book all incomplete
“It’s almost like this thing where you realize friendship is what survives knowing one another. Friendship comes before knowing one another and it survives knowing one another. It survives the rules of individuation that incarcerates the difference that actually make friendship possible. It both anticipated and survives individuation. It survives individuation by giving the lie to the idea that difference comes in individual units, that it comes as a function of particles, rather than forces.”

Tue. 7.9
18:00-21:00
We would like to keep this session open. In the end of the second session we will briefly discuss some options and will plan according to the desires and curiosities in the space.

The entrance is free. No ticket required. Due to covid number of participants is restricted.
Please register before by sending an email to n.vidan@hzt-berlin.de
Please remember to provide a negative covid test or proof of full vaccination upon arrival.

Looking forward,
