Boyan Manchev #2: Philosophy, Truth: the Necessary World

Philosophy is the invention of Truth as existence’s gift to itself. In this gift existence reveals itself as necessary existence. Therefore, philosophy is immanent to existence. 

We will reread Parmenides’ poem and confront our interpretation with Nietzsche’s, Heidegger’s and Badiou’s ideas of truth, affirming the project for modal ontology.

Boyan Manchev (1970, Sofia) is a philosopher, professor at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia and former Director of Program and Vice-President of the International College of Philosophy in Paris (2004-2010). Among his books are Freedom in spite of Everything. Surcritique and Modal Ontology (2021), The New Athanor. Prolegomena to Philosophical Fantastic (2020), Clouds. Philosophy of the Free Body (2017), Logic of the Political (2012), Miracolo (2011), L’altération du monde (2009), La Métamorphose et l’instant – Désorganisation de la vie (2009), The Body-Metamorphosis (2007). The perspective of a new ontology of existence, or a modal ontology, and the search for new philosophical forms have been central to his work in the past twenty-five years.
