Beginn des Lesekreises: Die Ästhetik des Widerstands

„Unser erstes Buchclub-Treffen ist inspiriert von der neuen englischen Übersetzung von der Ästhetik des Widerstands durch Joel Scott und der Vorstellung in der Vierten Welt; einer Veranstaltung, die viele von uns mit der Frage zurückließ, ob jetzt vielleicht tatsächlich der richtige Moment ist, dieses herausfordernde Buch in Angriff zu nehmen? Dieser Abend hinterließ das Gefühl, als wäre es nicht nur möglich, sondern vielleicht wichtig, es zu versuchen. Wir möchten uns mit anderen zusammentun, die genauso neugierig, unsicher und vielleicht auch begeistert sind, mit dem Lesen zu beginnen. Alle sind willkommen, egal ob ihr schon angefangen habt zu lesen, nur darüber nachdenkt oder euch noch nicht sicher seid.“

Start of the reading group: The Aesthetics of Resistance

„Join us for the first meeting of our book club on Peter Weiss’ Aesthetics of Resistance: we’ll discuss the first two (long) paragraphs and how to approach reading the book together.“

„We were inspired to form a book club after visiting the launch event for the translation of the third volume of Aesthetics of Resistance by Joel Scott at Vierte Welt, an event that left many of us wondering whether now might finally be the time to tackle this challenging book. Despite its reputation for complexity (and the fact that none of us have the time, of course), something about that evening made it feel possible and maybe important to try. We want to come together with others who are equally curious, uncertain, and maybe secretly excited to start this reading journey together. At this first meeting, we’ll talk about how we might approach the book and what kind of pace and format could work. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re already reading, just thinking about it, or still undecided.“
