SUMMARY:Prepping for the Unexpected – Kunst, Theorie und Sauerkraut
Sprache.\nGraphik: Klarissa Flückiger\nGraphik:\nKlarissa Flückig\nPrepping for the Unexpected brings together artistic, theoretical and practical approaches to build a collective repertoire for the unforeseen – by sharing knowledge and resources and experimenting with improvisation as a resistant practice.\nIn a world of multiple crises, ecological threats, geopolitical conflicts, and social upheavals unsettle what once seemed certain. This much seems sure, though: things will turn out differently than expected. Is it possible to prepare for a future, whose outcome remains unknown? What does it take?\nPreppers stockpile supplies, gather equipment, learn survival skills, and run through possible crisis scenarios in order to protect themselves and those close to them. The familiar imagery is one of hoarded tins of  food, toilet paper, and isolated masculinity. But genuine agency looks different.\nPrepping for the Unexpected proposes an alternative to this logic of individual self-protection: an approach to preparation rooted in shared knowledge, accessible resources, and capacity to act collectively. To explore this, the event brings prepping into tension with improvisation. Whether in theatre, music, or disaster management, improvisation draws on knowledge, experience, and\npracticed skills — as well as the willingness to let go of what has been tried and tested. Preparation does not provide a ready-made plan. Instead, it builds a repertoire for situations that cannot be planned for.\nPrepping for the Unexpected brings together artistic, theoretical, and practical contributions from Dr.-Ing. Margit Schild, Nolundi Tschudi, Dr. Eva Backhaus, PARTICLE TRIALITY, and Luiza Prado to explore and experiment with this alternative approach to preparedness.\nContributors\nArtist, curator, and engineer for landscape and open-space planning Dr.-Ing. Margit Schild shares insights from her research into time crises as a new normal, and explores how provisional solutions and artistic strategies can help them.\n(The presentation will be in German.)\nMore information: https://www.less-art.de/ ( https://www.less-art.de/ )\nPerformer Nolundi Tschudi embodies the volcano in the work ERUPTIVA EXTRAVAGANZA, transforming it into a drag persona of the catastrophic and exploring the transformative potential of destruction.\n(The Performance will be presented in German.)\nMore information: https://www.nolunditschudi.de/ ( https://www.nolunditschudi.de/ )\nWhile collectively prepping sauerkraut with the audience, philosopher Dr. Eva Backhaus explores prepping as a connective practice and improvisation as a form of resistant action.\n(The presentation will be in English.)\nAs PARTICLE TRIALITY, Sofia Salvo (saxophone), Dan Peter Sundland (bass and voice), and Valentin Schuster (drums) come together in a freely improvised performance that connects sound, movement, and space, embodying improvisation as a social practice.\nMore information: https://sofiasalvo.com/ ( https://sofiasalvo.com/ ), https://www.danpetersundland.com/ ( https://www.danpetersundland.com/ ), https://valentinschuster.com/ ( https://valentinschuster.com/ )\nIn the performance The Sermon of the Weeds, artist Luiza Prado connects the struggle for reproductive justice to ancestral knowledge of plant medicine through a shared ritual.\n(The performance will be presented in English.)\nhttps://www.luiza-prado.com/ ( https://www.luiza-prado.com/ )\n11:00 AM Doors Open\n12:00 PM Dr.-Ing.
